  • With a long haul network of over 60 routes, Gatwick offers businesses fast access to markets in all four corners of the globe
  • “New York fashion scene is every designer's dream and a short, targeted mission is a wonderful opportunity to lay down the ground work for opening up a whole new and important revenue stream”: Emma Jones, CEO, Enterprise Nation

Twelve of the UK’s brightest young fashion brands – including Hove-based Ellie Ellie – are jetting off from Gatwick this week (Friday 14 July) on a trade mission to explore the New York fashion scene to help them start exporting goods to the US market.

The delegation has been organised by Enterprise Nation, small business support group that organises trade missions to help the smallest British firms to export both goods and services.

The four day trade mission will help these UK brands to cultivate opportunities in the US fashion and beauty market, meet potential customers, local partners and hear from trading experts.

The US is the ideal environment for UK fashion, beauty and accessory businesses to explore as an export market, accounting as it does for almost 30% of the world’s consumer market with an expenditure of $10 trillion.

One firm going on the delegation is the award winning, Ellie Ellie – a Hove-based brand creating unique personalised gifts that are designed to capture a memory or special moments with loved ones.

Danielle Plowman, Founder of Ellie Ellie, said:

"We're really excited to travel to New York with Go Global this July, it's fantastic to be going with a group of young entrepreneurs who all share a similar global vision. We’re looking forward to expanding on our knowledge of the American market, learning how to run the perfect pop-up-shop and finding bundles of inspiration in the Big Apple!" -

Emma Jones, CEO, Enterprise Nation, said:

"It's our mission to take Britain's independent businesses to the world via a series of trade delegations we're running this year. The New York fashion scene is every designer's dream and a short, targeted mission is a wonderful opportunity to lay down the ground work for opening up a whole new and important revenue stream."

Alison Addy, Head of Community, Gatwick Airport, said:

“We are delighted to help these small British firms, including those from our local community, to reach the world’s largest market. As a vital piece of UK transport infrastructure – with a long haul network of over 60 routes - Gatwick offers these businesses fast access to markets in all four corners of the globe.”
