  • Gatwick Airport has increased its lead as the World’s most efficient single-runway airport: 43 million passengers travel annually through the airport
  • 3.1 million passengers travelled through the airport in December, +15% on the same month last year
  • Long-haul growth +26.8% driving a cargo increase of +13.3%

  • easyJet to move to the North Terminal from 24 January
  • British Airways and Virgin Atlantic switch terminals from 25 January

  • New Head of Airline Relations Stephen King is responsible for developing Gatwick’s existing airline relationships to their full potential and growing the airport’s carrier base – the airport already flies to 200 destinations in 80 countries
  • Previous experience at Virgin Atlantic heading up the airline’s Asia Pacific team based in Hong Kong and also General Manager India
  • Announcement of Stephen’s appointment follows record November passenger figures. 2.8 million passengers travelled through the airport in November, +7.3% on the same month last year

Today Warwick Davis, the much loved icon of the Star Wars franchise, was at World Duty Free, in Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal to celebrate the release of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, the epic adventure from Lucasfilm which has already become the UK’s biggest opening of 2016.

Sir David Higgins will become Chairman of Gatwick Airport from 1 January 2017 replacing Sir Roy McNulty, who will remain on the Board as Deputy Chairman.
