17/08/2015

  • Airports Commission’s findings are inconsistent and flawed
  • Traffic forecasts don’t even take into account its own night flight ban
  • Gatwick today has published a full, detailed, and thorough response

11/08/2015

  • Gatwick’s 2.5 years of consecutive growth far outstrips Airports Commission forecasts
  • 4.3 million passengers pass through the airport in July, +6.4% on previous year
  • Gatwick CEO Stewart Wingate said: These results put us ten years ahead of the forecasts used by the Airports Commission to predict future air traffic movement. Our growth in the last twelve months is actually more than the Commission concluded could be added at Gatwick in the first year of a new runway being operational here – this is further proof of the flaws in the Airports Commission analysis and shows its conclusions are fast unravelling.

29/07/2015

  • Gatwick has never breached annual air quality targets and has  guaranteed to maintain 100% record with second runway
  • Heathrow expansion would be unlawful because of continued breaches in air quality standards

27/07/2015

  • AirPortr luggage transfer service launches at Gatwick Airport
  • Passengers can now travel without their luggage to and from the airport
  • Affordable service can be booked in advance or on the day of travel

24/07/2015

  • Record breaking summer with 6.8m passengers expected at Gatwick
  • More than a million passengers will pass through during most popular week
  • Large passenger growth to both business and leisure destinations

14/07/2015

  • Gatwick strengths and Heathrow challenges both underplayed
  • Gatwick believes these shortcomings have led to a flawed conclusion
  • Only expansion at Gatwick can actually be delivered

13/07/2015

  • Gatwick achieves record passenger numbers in 28th consecutive month of growth
  • 3.8 million passengers pass through the airport, +5% on previous year
  • Long-haul routes growing fastest at the airport, +8% on the 12 months to last June

10/07/2015

The Zetter Group, Chef Bruno Loubet and Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE) join forces to open Grain Store Café & Bar at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal.

09/07/2015

  • From May 2016 Norwegian will open a new route to Boston with four weekly departures  from London Gatwick
  • Over 200,000 passengers have travelled on long haul, low cost flights from London Gatwick since July 2014
  • Gatwick CEO: "The success of Norwegian's transatlantic routes shows which way the industry is moving, with new generation aircraft fuelling the low cost long-haul revolution. Aviation is changing fast and we must deliver new capacity that best serves these future trends"

01/07/2015

Responding to the Airports Commission Final Report today, Gatwick Airport said it remained confident that it will still be chosen for expansion as it is the only deliverable option.
